The Nettles Island Community Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit that strengthens our island community through emergency assistance, student scholarships, and care for the place we call home.

Nettles Island sits on Hutchinson Island, a close-knit residential community wrapped by the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. The Nettles Island Community Foundation, Inc. was formed so that residents could pool their generosity and respond quickly when a neighbor, a student, or our shared environment needs a hand.
Every program is run by volunteers, and every dollar raised stays close to home — supporting residents after storms and hardships, investing in the next generation, and protecting the waters that define island life.

What We Do

Neighbor Assistance
Confidential, short-term help for residents facing medical emergencies, financial hardship, or hurricane recovery.
Scholarships
Awards for local students and the grandchildren of residents pursuing college, trade school, and vocational training.
Lagoon & Shoreline Care
Shoreline cleanups, native plantings, and support for efforts that keep the Indian River Lagoon healthy.
Community Life
Events and gatherings that welcome new neighbors and keep our island connected year-round.
